area of around 37 hectares. It is known for the giant lilies, spice gardens and also has a unique collection
of over 85 varieties of palms from all over the world. The Mauritius Botanical Garden remains to be one
of the top attractions in Mauritius.
Grand Bassin: Also known as Ganga Talao, it is located in the secluded mountain area in the district of
Savanne. This is one of the holiest places in Mauritius where many Hindus honor Lord Shiva. It is their
belief that this river communicates with the Holy River of Ganges in India. During the time of Maha
Shivaratiri, the place is filled with many Hindu pilgrims who perform their rituals every year.
Chamarel park: The "Seven colored earth" of Chamarel is not only a major tourist attraction but also
a point of curiosity to geologists. The unique landscape at Chamarel is the only place on Earth where
you can find a clay earth of seven colors at once. You can also catch a view of the Chamarel falls while
visiting the Chamarel Park. The Waterfall of Chamarel which is considered to be the best waterfalls in
Mauritius is another attraction point of this park.
