In a country filled with greenery, wildlife is abundant. India is the place to visit if you want to visit wild animals at their natural habitat. India plays home to many animals ranging from ferocious breed of wild elephants to receding breed of tigers. There are national parks scattered throughout the country with some holding greater importance than the other.
Here are a few national parks that you should not miss on your trip to India:
Kaziranga National Park: Located in the districts Golaghat and Nagaon of the state of Assam, the park plays home to most of the world's Great One-horned Rhinoceroses. The density of Tigers is very high in this park and was declared a Tiger reserve in 2006. As it is located on the edge of the Eastern Himalayan biodiversity hotspot, this national park hosts many diverse animals.
Kanha National Park: If you happen to be in the country at the time of February or June , then Kahna National Park in Mandla and Balaghat districts of Madhya Pradesh is not the one to miss. Being the largest national park in Central India the Kahna National park has many wild boars, crested serpents, jackals, spotted deer, sambhar deer and langur monkeys. There are wide ranges of tigers too but the main attraction of the park is swamp deer or Barsingha. If you are on a visit to this park, then the Elephant safari or jeep safari inside the park is the one to look out for.
Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary: This Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the southern state of Kerala. This is one of the most famous parks in India which is known for Elephants. Herds of Indian Elephants can be seen here constantly and it is quite a sight to watch! It is also known to house 45 species of reptiles and 320 species of birds. |
